I bought my townhome about couple months ago and right from the beginning I noticed that the humidity level was consistently in 80’s and 90’s which is very high and perfect conditions for mildew and mold development. The system itself consisted of the original 40 year old plenum and somewhat newer other components from previous owners and their cost saving attempts to keep the system running. It was clear to me that it was getting close to replace the entire system at some point but my goal was to get the humidity under control first.

To remedy the high humidity in the house, home inspector suggested installing dehumidifier, another AC company could not figure out the reason why the humidity was so high in the entire house and after inspection stated that system is fine and nothing to worry about. The humidity issue wasn’t solved until Camilo from Richmond’s Air came by and figured out the root cause. The fan motor was constantly on regardless of whether I had set it on auto or off in thermostats. Camilo fixed the issue and humidity levels normalized within few days.

About couple months later the AC unit started randomly shutting down and also leak was apparent now. As I had been planning on adding another zone to the system and now that I had found a very knowledgeable and professional AC technician Camilo at Richmond’s Air, I didn’t hesitate to reach out again and proceed with getting a quote for the entire new system.

Camilo’s quote was fair. He explained the benefits of each feature very well and helped me make the best decision that met my budget and home design. The installation was excellent. I had my HVAC system replaced with a new 2 stage and heat bump version including media filter and new ducking in the attic and also with an additional zone. The schedule was on time. The workmanship was professional and organized. Everything was great. System runs super smoothly and quietly. I really appreciate Camilo checking the installation and system performance the next day as a courtesy. Definitely recommend Richmond’s Air and Camilo.”

Camilo turned up the next day about 5 minutes ahead of the scheduled appointment time. I explained the issue and he went to work. After running his tests, he showed me that the Capacitor output was too low. He changed it and when the unit started back up, he noted that the motor/fan response and speed was not in line with what was expected.

While we were still discussing, the motor died right there and then. Camilo ended up having to replace the motor as well. He also ended up checking the freon level and assuring me that everything looked good.
